I am writing this review from a different perspective as most (a blues fan before a Norah Jones fan). I will readily admit that "New York City" was the first song I have heard by Jones. Not being a big top 40 fan, I was unsure what to think of this CD when sitting down to listen.
I am happy to say that her voice is a great compliment to Malick's jazz/blues fusion -- which makes for both a compelling and euphoric listen.
The EP's standout track "All Of Your Love" is an amazing, yet simple blues number, that focuses on Jones' vocal range and her uncanny ability to carry a tune. "Deceptively Yours" is a mid-tempo track that also keeps the head moving, yet hits home with a voice that brings a whole new meaning to the word "stunning."
I have to say that this 7 song - EP (6 Songs + 1 Radio Edit does not constitute a full length CD -- barely breaking 30 min) has me yearning for more or their combined efforts. I am also committed to seek out more music on both artists (including Jones' "Come Away With Me" and Malick's "Wrong Side Of My Life") -- however, I am quite curious to see how both artists will stand out without each others unique compliments.
